Research in international human resource management

As the extent of globalization has increased, the School of Management and Labor Relations at Rutgers has increasingly sought to understand the international dimension of human resource management. As international human resource management investigates the dynamic and changing conditions of employment and work against the backdrop of increased globalization, key research themes include the strategic role of HR in multinational corporations and the role of HR in cross-border alliances. International HR is also concerned with cross-cultural comparison. Randall Schuler serves on the editorial boards of a number of journals with an international emphasis, including The International Journal of Human Resource Management, Asia Pacific Journal of Human Resources, Journal of International Management, and Journal of International Management Reviews. Likewise, Paula Caligiuri, who does extensive work on expatriate management, women on global assignments, and global leadership, is on the review board for Journal of International Business Studies.
